President George Bush and Governor Gray Davis. . .

Why Do We Have An Energy Crisis?

According to the U.S Department of Energy, the average amount of electricity used per person in California has remained relatively stable for the last 25 years.

But during the same period, the state's population increased by over 50 percent.

That's 12 million more people using electricity!

Sure, we can blame de-regulation.

Sure, we can blame power companies for withholding supply.

But if California's population had not grown by half, would there be Stage 3 alerts?

California-Style Blackouts In Other States?

California's population-driven problem will soon become a national problem.

That's because population growth has also exploded in many other states.

In the past decade alone, 33 million energy-consuming people were added to our nation.

If U.S. population continues to grow at the rate of this past decade, what will happen?

Within the lifetimes of today's children, this country will more than double its population.

To far exceed 600 million people.

We would be well on our way toward becoming as crowded as today's China!

Think about it.

Governor Davis says we should reduce energy usage by 9 percent.

But how can we solve the problem, if we allow the U.S. population to increase . . . by 100 percent!

Sure, we can also build new power plants and drill more oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

We can even develop new technologies and sources of energy.

But how many power plants can we build, and for how much oil should we drill, and what new sources of energy can we find . . .

To meet the demand of over half a billion energy consumers?

Besides, building power plants and drilling oil are hardly free. They carry high costs, fiscal and environmental.

Let's Move Forward.

The energy crisis, like traffic congestion, urban sprawl and overcrowded schools, is exacerbated by population growth.

Nearly 70 percent of current population growth in this country is immigration-related. It's therefore imperative that President Bush and Governor Davis advocate a sustainable immigration policy.

Because explosive population growth, driven mostly by high immigration, impacts all of us, including the immigrants.
